Travel Advisory

Updated: December 6, 2021 at 9:00 AM GMT

We are continually reviewing the updates from global health authorities, local governments and airlines with regards to the entry requirements. Our Travel Entry Requirements page is updated as new information is obtained regarding the specific documentation needed for sailing with us this year.

AMAWATERWAYS VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: Effective immediately, AmaWaterways will only be welcoming guests fully vaccinated* against COVID-19 on board our ships. This vaccination update also applies to accompanied minors. Guests affected by this decision should contact their travel agent for options to reschedule their river cruise.

*To join an AmaWaterways river cruise, guests are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving their second dose of Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca or 28 days following a single dose of Johnson & Johnson (based on EMA guidelines). AmaWaterways accepts mixed dosages of these four vaccines.

As entry requirements can change rapidly, we strongly recommend guests take a PCR test prior to departing for your river cruise to avoid any unnecessary travel interruptions and for added peace of mind. The valid time frame of the PCR test may vary between 48 and 72 hours so please refer to the entry regulations of your destination or airline.

For medical purposes: Pfizer is known as Comirnaty or Biotech; Moderna is known as Spikevax; AstraZeneca is known as Vaxzevria; Johnson & Johnson is known as Janssen.

Confirmed and Suspended Sailings

Due to temporary and changing restrictions being imposed throughout Austria and Slovakia, we are working diligently to adjust our Danube itineraries so that all guests who wish to continue with their holiday plans, may do so. Guests who choose to travel should be prepared to be flexible and understand that ports of call and excursions have not been finalized and are subject to change as the situation in Europe continues to evolve.

Guests not comfortable traveling between now and the end of the year can postpone their trips and, as part of our 2021 Ultimate Cruise Flexibility programme, will receive a Future Cruise Credit for their river cruise (cruise-portion price only). Guests with third party services booked with AmaWaterways should speak with their travel agent or AmaWaterways.

We are in the process of contacting guests departing within the next 10 days. Most of our ships on the Danube will be sailing between Budapest, Hungary and Vilshofen, Germany, with extra excursions and scenic cruising in Hungary, scenic cruising through Austria’s beautiful Wachau Valley and more time in port in Germany. Regardless of itinerary modifications, we will provide transfers to the international airports associated with the original embarking and disembarking location.

At this time, all Mekong River cruises through Vietnam and Cambodia have been suspended through April 30, 2022.

Guests on suspended sailings will be automatically issued a Future Cruise Credit* equal to 115% of the value of the funds received for all purchased services through AmaWaterways (i.e. cruise, hotel/land, air, etc.).

We encourage redemption of your Future Cruise Credit on any confirmed sailings this year or on any other sailing departing before December 2023. The additional 15% value of the Future Cruise Credit may be used to upgrade your flight experience or stateroom accommodations or to add a wonderful land package to your new sailing.
