Travel Advisory

We are very encouraged by the recent news from the European Commission in regards to welcoming vaccinated travelers from certain countries this summer. We are seeking further information before announcing a definitive restart date of selected cruises within the EU. As many of our river cruise itineraries pass through multiple countries, there is still clarification needed from member states but this is definitely a long awaited first step in the right direction. Having successfully operated river cruises during summer 2020, our teams are experienced with health and safety protocols and are ready with three to four weeks’ notice to safely resume enjoyable river cruises for our guests that meet the EU entry requirements.

We are continuously monitoring the updates from global health authorities and local governments with regards to the ongoing situation. At this time, we have extended suspensions for river cruise sailings embarking through June 30, 2021 (except Portugal, which is suspended through June 15).

As we prepare our ships and crew for our return to the rivers this year, we continue to closely monitor local and international protocols regarding safe travel. Vaccinations against COVID-19 have begun in many countries, however restrictions and regulations, including re-entry to certain home countries, continue to evolve and may still change on short notice.

We will review the status of each river cruise approximately 45 days before departure and reach out to travel advisors with clients booked to re-confirm arrangements and ensure that the online pre-cruise health questionnaire reflects the most up-to-date information on travel regulations.

Future Cruise Credit

We want to assure our guests that we have protected their long-awaited travel experience by automatically issuing a Future Cruise Credit equal to 115% of the value of the funds received for all purchased services through AmaWaterways (i.e. cruise, hotel/land, air, etc.), redeemable on any AmaWaterways river cruise in Europe, Asia, or Africa (including Egypt) embarking through December 31, 2023. For added flexibility, we have also made these Future Cruise Credits transferrable at any time prior to December 31, 2023 with the original owner’s written authorization.

We want to reassure you that we are in a secure position to welcome guests back on board once we can safely sail again. Until then, the rivers continue to flow and our staff and crew are patiently waiting to treat you to a memorable river cruise experience.

Trust and Confidence

Family owned and operated, AmaWaterways was built on the foundation of a conservative growth plan, which our co-founders - Rudi Schreiner, Kristin Karst and Jimmy Murphy - knew would ensure the company’s strength in the face of any future challenges. Backed by sophisticated private equity investors including Certares, the leading specialist investment firm in the travel industry, AmaWaterways is virtually debt-free and in a secure financial position with ships and teams ready to resume sailing as soon as it is safe to do so.

We are proud to be the only US-based river cruise company to have successfully completed a four-month European sailing season during 2020 with enhanced health and safety protocols. Guest feedback confirms we delivered an exceptional experience while protecting our guests and crew.

We understand the importance of peace of mind and flexibility as you begin planning your future river journey. Should you have any questions regarding 2021 travel arrangements, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Reservations Team.
