Travel Advisory

Updated: October 19, 2021 at 9:00 AM BST

We are truly excited to return to the rivers this summer and welcome our guests who have been waiting so long to travel again! As our sailings proceed, we are continually reviewing the updates from global health authorities, local governments and airlines with regards to the entry requirements. Our Travel Entry Requirements page is updated as new information is obtained regarding the specific documentation needed for sailing with us this year. Details will also be posted here and be sent via email prior to your cruise.

AMAWATERWAYS VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: Effective immediately, AmaWaterways will only be welcoming guests fully vaccinated* against COVID-19 on board our ships. This vaccination update also applies to accompanied minors. Guests affected by this decision should contact their travel agent for options to reschedule their river cruise.

*To join an AmaWaterways river cruise, guests are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving their second dose of Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca or 28 days following a single dose of Johnson & Johnson (based on EMA guidelines). AmaWaterways accepts mixed dosages of these four vaccines.

As entry requirements can change rapidly, we strongly recommend guests take a PCR test prior to departing on your flight to avoid any unnecessary travel interruptions and for added peace of mind. The valid time frame of the PCR test may vary between 48 and 72 hours so please refer to the entry regulations of your destination or airline.

For medical purposes: Pfizer is known as Comirnaty or Biotech; Moderna is known as Spikevax; AstraZeneca is known as Vaxzevria; Johnson & Johnson is known as Janssen.

Confirmed and Suspended Sailings

At this time, all Mekong River cruises through Vietnam and Cambodia have been suspended through December 31, 2021.

Guests on suspended sailings will be automatically issued a Future Cruise Credit* equal to 115% of the value of the funds received for all purchased services through AmaWaterways (i.e. cruise, hotel/land, air, etc.).

We encourage redemption of your Future Cruise Credit on any confirmed sailings this year or on any other sailing departing before December 2023. The additional 15% value of the Future Cruise Credit may be used to upgrade your flight experience or stateroom accommodations or to add a wonderful land package to your new sailing.

Future Cruise Certificate

We want to assure our guests that we have protected their long-awaited travel experience by automatically issuing a Future Cruise Credit equal to 115% of the value of the funds received for all purchased services through AmaWaterways (i.e. cruise, hotel/land, air, etc.), redeemable on any AmaWaterways river cruise in Europe, Asia, or Africa (including Egypt) embarking through December 31, 2023. For added flexibility, we have also made these Future Cruise Credits transferrable at any time prior to December 31, 2023 with the original owner’s written authorization.

Trust and Confidence

Having sailed the Rhine River in 2020, AmaWaterways played an industry-leading role in the early adaptation of health and safety protocols within the river cruise sector. Guest feedback confirms we delivered an exceptional experience while protecting our guests and crew with our enhanced protocols.

Family owned and operated, AmaWaterways was built on the foundation of a conservative growth plan, which our co-founders - Rudi Schreiner, Kristin Karst and Jimmy Murphy - knew would ensure the company’s strength in the face of any future challenges. Backed by sophisticated private equity investors including Certares, the leading specialist investment firm in the travel industry, AmaWaterways is virtually debt-free and in a secure financial position with ships and teams ready to resume sailing as soon as it is safe to do so.

We understand the importance of peace of mind and flexibility as you begin planning your future river journey. Should you have any questions regarding 2021 travel arrangements, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Reservations Team.
