Journey Through France

From itineraries in Paris, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Provence to our renowned La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs culinary distinction to some of the flavorful wine we serve on board, AmaWaterways has always had a special bond with France. With one new journey debuting in 2021, that includes the idyllic Saône River and one new itinerary on the Seine River debuting in 2022, as well as increased capacity with our award-winning AmaKristina cruising through Provence, there has never been a better time to join us on the waterways listed below.

SEINE RIVER:
Paris and Normandy

Showcasing the best of Northern France, the Seine River cascades beneath 37 bridges, passing countless architectural landmarks, including the iconic Eiffel Tower. From Paris, she continues a northwesterly course through Normandy’s countryside, home to grazing cows, rolling hills, ancient monasteries and apple orchards. By the time she gets to Rouen, her banks widen and deepen on her way to Le Havre.

THE GARONNE AND DORDOGNE RIVERS AND GIRONDE ESTUARY:
Bordeaux Region

Before merging into the Gironde Estuary, the Garonne and Dordogne rivers flow through a region renowned for its wine growing, majestic châteaux and gastronomic delights. Breathtaking countryside views call out for cyclists to pedal past idyllic vineyards timeless wine estates. RHÔNE AND SAÔNE RIVERS:
Provence and Burgundy

The serene Saône River flows from northeastern France into the Burgundy countryside. Historic Beaujolais vineyards beckon for passionate oenophiles to enjoy the local wine culture. Venturing south, the Saône rendezvouses with the Rhône River in France’s grand food capital, Lyon, later serving up palate-pleasing wonders from Avignon’s truffles to the legendary vineyards of Côte du Rhône. Roman ruins also await beyond the riverbanks, where fragrant lavender beckons in Provence in summer.
